Warframe's fantasy-pilled sister Soulframe finally goes open to all this November, though Digital Extremes are "nervous" about certain changes

Digital Extremes Set to Launch Open Access

Digital Extremes, the development studio widely recognized for creating Warframe, has officially announced the next major phase for its upcoming project, Soulframe. The free-to-play fantasy RPG is finally shedding its restricted testing period and will be available for everyone to download starting on November 6. This open access milestone comes after the game spent two years in a closed alpha phase.

Up until this point, entering the world of Soulframe required players to obtain coveted "prelude" keys. Gamers who lacked these keys were left on the outside looking in, unable to explore the title or decipher unique details like the sleeping animals resting on the game's lobby screen. To raise these companions into mounts, players will need to explore the world and gather specific ingredients required to bake a special biscuit.

Furthermore, Verse of the Veilands introduces an Ubisoft-esque region purging system. This mechanic violently reshapes structural progression in order to guide incoming players much more emphatically through the world, ensuring they are directed toward key objectives.

Bespoke Vocabulary and Unique Systems

Those objectives highlight another distinct aspect of Soulframe: its reliance on custom terminology. Rather than using standard gaming phrasing, Digital Extremes has created bespoke names for almost every feature in the game. For example, standard missions in Soulframe are formally designated as "votives." Depending on a player's patience, this specialized language can come across as either charming or madd
